Songbird’s wit

Songbird’s wit
I’ve stood in the middle of the frozen lake, Holding my arms around my body, Screaming in my head, “ Why won’t it end.” It’s like plucking hair out off my head, As I shiver with the moon, Did you have to disappear like that? Into thin air like that?   I thought we had it programmed, Like lovers in the dark, We programed our heart, Programmed our thoughts, We were the robots that would never Walk away, The promise left unspoken, Bitter like the ice between my feet, I’ve stood in the middle of the frozen lake, Holding my arms around my body, Screaming in my head, “ Why won’t it end.” Pain is only what we think of it, Like wildflowers grow, We pluck the thorny ones, Because beauty only comes with pain, And pain only comes from beauty, I thought we had it programmed, Like lovers in the dark, We programed our heart, Programmed our thoughts, We were the robots that would never Walk away, The promise left unspoken, Bitter like the ice between my feet, I thought we had it, I thought we had it love, Till the thorns bit, Like fire. You can’t always run your fingers through gold, You can’t sing a tale about lovebirds, Until you’ve lost yours, You can’t promise forever, If death could be only a second away, You can’t spin a web of lies, If you don’t the truth, You can’t play at life, If you don’t know all the rules in between, We can’t walk the thine of love, If love is not the only thing you got, You can’t always talk about knowledge, If knowledge involves only what you know, And not what you need to know, We are the ignorant, Believing all that we see, We are the forgotten, Watching the bottom of a bottle, Taking in toxic in our lungs, We are the beaten, Having pain in our history, That holds itself like a mother’s grip, I am your hope before it all floods away, And your love as it drifts.     I’m the darkest part of all, The ending, As it begins, The promise as it fades, The lie as it spreads, The money as it turns with power, The food as it gets  scarfed down, The car as it speeds to a stop, The seduction as it impregnates, The loss as it wells up, The tears as the drip, I’m your nightmare, As it enraptures you in fear, Spins its ugly darkness in your heart, And tries to treat it, With a soulless tactic, I am the worst part of you.   I miss your cozy talks, Warm whispers, And strong arms, I miss your lips as they curve, A frown of ambition on your face, I want to wrap around you, Like a Boa, Your heart is my string, I play it like yearn, If I tug too much, And Tug too little, We fade like Angelina Jolie, I miss your cozy talks, Warm whispers, And strong arms, I miss your lips as they curve, A frown of ambition on your face, I want to wrap around you, Like a Boa, Your heart is my string, I play it like yearn, If I tug too much, And Tug too little, We fade like Angelina Jolie,   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVm7MVtNEqM
